Weather

The fall weather finally hit today. It was sixty-two degrees and sunny. Perfect. We spent the morning at the park.

Monday, Monday

We went to a Halloween play date on Monday.

Super heros and royalty played in the sandbox together.

Snacks were had, cries were heard and a good time was had by all.

The morning ended with a tug of war (over a sand box cover) between Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

Luca and Grace had a second play date early that afternoon. The conversation on the car ride to our house went something like this...

Luca: Sharing is good. It's nice to share.
Grace: I'm a good sharer. I'll share my Blankey with you.
Luca: OK!

Grace: Milk makes you grow. Juice doesn't make you grow.
Luca: Water makes you grow, too.
Grace: Yeah!

Grace: I like princesses. I got a princess movie from the movie store. You can watch it when you come to my house.
Luca: Okay!

By the time lunch was on the table, the conversation had deteriorated to this..

Luca: Poopie!
Grace: Pee!

Luca: Stinky diaper!!!!
Grace: Boobie!!!

Post-lunch and post-potty talk saw Bubbles...

Porch Swinging...

And a transformation into a King and a Queen...

(I had to bribe them with the promise of a cookie to get them to both look at the camera at the same time).

Play dates between three-year olds are hard sometimes - fraught with sharing issues, tattling and the occasional physical offense. But, Monday's play date was almost seamless. It seems, as they get older, their play time together has less conflict and more extended moments of sharing and fun.

I am crossing my fingers for four.

Weekend Update

Among other things, this weekend involved Chocolate Tofu Pie (see recipe in an earlier post from today).

Luca and Debbie worked off some of the sugar high in the kitchen.

The best part of the weekend was that Jane visited from New York. We were all very happy to see her. We had lots of nice down time with her and she also spent lots of time occupying Luca, which allowed us to get a start on the baby's room. She is always a blast to be around and always a huge help. We were all very sad that it was such a short visit.

Jane has been given strict orders to come back very soon.

Fall

It's 62 here today. I am so happy.

Chocolate Tofu Pie. Mmmm.

Try this simple recipe. Serve it to your anti-tofu friends. It will make believers out of them.

1 box soft, silken tofu (I use mori-nu)
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 pre-made graham cracker crust

Melt chips - either in a double boiler or in the microwave at fifteen second intervals, stirring in between. (about 2 minutes)
Blend (electric hand mixers are easiest) melted chocolate and 1 box of tofu (be sure that it's soft AND silken).
Pour blended mixture into pre-made pie crust - or into individual ramekins for a tofu mousse treat!
Refrigerate for several hours until it sets.

So good. Trust me.

Highlights

Max left today and the house seems so empty without him. Even though I explained to Luca that his cousin wouldn't be here when he came home from school, he was still extremely disappointed. It was a great visit...
